Akamai Launches NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs and Akamai Functions on Connected Cloud

Akamai updated its Akamai Connected Cloud platform in May 2026 with NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell GPUs for distributed AI inference in computer vision and multimodal applications. Akamai Functions provides edge-native serverless execution using WebAssembly with SDKs for Rust, Go, JavaScript, and Python. New features include role-based access control, expanded observability for databases and object storage, and E3 object storage endpoints in Chicago, Frankfurt, Los Angeles, and Tokyo. The updates build on the prior acquisition of Fermyon and support real-time inference closer to users.
