Sophos Buys Secureworks for US$859 Million

Thoma Bravo-backed Sophos agreed to acquire Secureworks from Dell Technologies for US$859 million in cash to expand its enterprise cybersecurity product lineup. Secureworks founded in 1998 offers the Taegis cloud-based platform for advanced threat detection and managed detection and response services. The target reported a quarterly loss of 17 cents per share in the quarter ended July 31 amid challenges differentiating from larger rivals. Dell purchased Secureworks for US$612 million in 2011, listed it via IPO in 2016, and explored prior sale attempts in 2019 before the 2024 announcement with expected close in early 2025.
