OpenAI launched the OpenAI Deployment Company on May 11, 2026 as a majority-owned joint venture with approximately $4 billion in outside investment at a $10 billion pre-money valuation. TPG led the round with co-leads Advent International, Bain Capital, and Brookfield while Goldman Sachs, SoftBank, Warburg Pincus, BBVA, McKinsey, and Capgemini joined as backers. OpenAI contributed $500 million in equity with an option for $1 billion more and the venture stations engineers inside enterprises in healthcare, logistics, manufacturing, and financial services to build production AI systems exclusively on OpenAI models. Investors receive a guaranteed minimum 17.5% annual return over five years with profits capped and the 19 partners sponsor more than 2,000 businesses worldwide as a captive customer base. OpenAI acquired Tomoro, an applied AI firm with 150 Forward Deployed Engineers whose clients include Tesco and Virgin Atlantic.
