Detroit Three Cut 20,000 Salaried Jobs as AI Advances

General Motors, Ford Motor and Stellantis cut more than 20,000 U.S. salaried jobs from recent employment peaks by the end of 2025. White-collar headcount across the Detroit Three peaked at roughly 102,000 jobs in 2022 and fell to 88,700 by the end of last year. GM, Ford and Stellantis have shed nearly a fifth of their combined workforces according to public filings and employment data. Toyota grew its U.S. white-collar workforce by roughly 31% from 2020 through 2025.
