EFL expelled Southampton from the Sky Bet Championship Play-Offs after the club admitted multiple breaches of EFL Regulations 3.4 and 127 related to unauthorised filming of other clubs’ training sessions. Southampton admitted breaches against Oxford United in December 2025, Ipswich Town in April 2026, and Middlesbrough in May 2026. The Independent Disciplinary Commission imposed expulsion from the play-offs, a four-point deduction for the 2026/27 Championship table, and a reprimand. Middlesbrough was reinstated to the Play-Off Final against Hull City scheduled for 23 May 2026 at 3:30pm. Southampton was first charged on 8 May 2026 with further charges issued on 17 May 2026.
