OpenAI Acquires Neptune.ai for Under $400 Million in Stock

OpenAI agreed to acquire Neptune.ai in December 2025 for less than $400 million in stock. The deal integrates Neptune.ai’s experiment-tracking and model registry technology into OpenAI’s internal infrastructure to support large-scale model training and debugging. Neptune.ai founder and CEO Piotr Niedźwiedź highlighted the opportunity to scale the platform’s mission through OpenAI resources. The hosted SaaS service began a three-month transition period ending March 5, 2026, after which customers migrated data. OpenAI was already a Neptune.ai customer prior to the acquisition.
