Ankush Gola introduced SmithDB on May 13, 2026. SmithDB is a Rust-based distributed database using Apache DataFusion and Vortex that backs 100% of LangSmith US Cloud ingestion and tracing queries. SmithDB achieves up to 15x faster performance with P50 trace tree loads at 92ms and P50 full-text search at 400ms. SmithDB supports self-hosted deployments and handles hundreds of nested spans in agent traces.
