Enterprises Fleeing Broadcom Move to OpenShift Virtualization

Enterprises including Cleveland Clinic with over 10,000 VMs migrated to OpenShift Virtualization after Broadcom's VMware licensing costs rose ninefold. Cleveland Clinic achieved 50% lower total cost of ownership and moved 450 VMs so far with plans to complete all migrations in 19 months. Emirates National Bank of Dubai migrated over 9,000 VMs to OpenShift Virtualization at up to 200 per night. Red Hat launched a free OpenShift Migration Assessment in May 2026 and expanded features like live migration in OpenShift 4.21 in March 2026.
