Akamai Technologies entered a definitive agreement to acquire LayerX Security, a provider of browser-based AI usage control and secure enterprise browser technology, on May 14, 2026. The deal values LayerX at approximately $205 million in cash after adjustments and is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026. LayerX solutions will integrate with Akamai’s Zero Trust portfolio to provide visibility and control over employee interactions with generative AI tools, SaaS applications, and prompts across standard browsers. LayerX co-founders Or Eshed and David Vaisbrud along with the team will join Akamai’s Enterprise Security organization. The acquisition is anticipated to be dilutive to non-GAAP EPS by about $0.12 in fiscal 2026 with LayerX contributing roughly $10 million in annual recurring revenue by year-end.
