GitHub released a new animated Octocat mascot for the Copilot app on May 19 2026. Principal brand designer Cameron Foxley modeled, rigged, and animated the mascot in Blender with Threejs interactivity and stated in the age of AI slop some of us are still making things by hand. The campaign drew criticism for boasting non-AI creation while promoting an AI coding tool. Bro you don't get to be a contributing factor to the AI Slopocalypse and wash yourself of the guilt by talking about making the logo in Blender with multiple users calling Copilot an AI slop machine.
