Thunes appoints co-founder Peter De Caluwe as CEO replacing Floris de Kort

Singapore-based payments network Thunes appointed co-founder and deputy chairman Peter De Caluwe as new CEO on October 24 2025. Floris de Kort stepped down after serving as CEO for one and a half years since January 2024. De Caluwe previously held the CEO role from 2017 to January 2024 and oversaw strategic direction plus the acquisition of US paytech firm Tilia during his deputy chairman tenure. Thunes secured $150 million Series D funding at a record valuation and obtained licenses across all 50 US states during de Kort's tenure. Thunes facilitates payments to 130 countries in 80 currencies and supports more than 300 payment methods through its API connections with investors including Visa Insight Partners and Helios.
