Palo Alto Networks announced on April 30, 2026 its intent to acquire Portkey, a pioneer in AI Gateways. Portkey delivers a centralized control plane to manage and protect autonomous AI agents, already processing trillions of tokens per month with low latency for agent-to-agent communication. Portkey will serve as the AI Gateway for Prisma AIRS, enabling inspection of AI traffic, enforcement of security policies, least-privilege controls, semantic routing for 99.99% uptime, and access to over 3,000 LLMs. Rohit Agarwal, CEO and Co-Founder of Portkey, stated that joining Palo Alto Networks will establish the AI Gateway as the foundational layer of the secure AI enterprise. The transaction is expected to close in Palo Alto Networks' fourth quarter of fiscal 2026 subject to customary conditions.
