Orange and Capgemini Invent join the AION consortium led by Iliad cloud subsidiary Scaleway on May 20, 2026. The AION initiative launched in mid-2025 after the European Commission’s call for AI gigafactories. Scaleway CEO Damien Lucas says the additions show AION gaining traction and attracting more support. The consortium now includes Artefact, Bull, Capgemini, Orange, Iliad/Scaleway, Ardian and EDF. New partners strengthen the French bid for European AI infrastructure sovereignty.
