Hypercubic launched Hopper, an agentic development environment for IBM mainframes running z/OS and COBOL. The tool enables AI agents to autonomously navigate TN3270 terminals, debug code, submit JCL jobs, and manage CICS transactions. Founders Sai and Aayush previously built Hypercubic's mainframe tooling. Hopper connects directly to mainframe systems via Model Context Protocol without emulation or wrappers. Hypercubic is Y Combinator-backed and focuses on legacy modernization for banks and insurers holding 220 billion lines of COBOL code.
