GitLab CEO Bill Staples stated on May 12, 2026, that enterprise monthly bills for developer platforms have risen from tens of dollars per seat to hundreds and are heading toward thousands due to AI agent volume. GitLab introduced consumption pricing for agent work earlier in 2026 and will allow mixing with subscriptions. The company employs approximately 2,500 people and will cut jobs as part of restructuring, with final numbers disclosed on the June 2 earnings call. Staples noted agents open merge requests in parallel and trigger pipelines around the clock.
