LangChain launched LangSmith Engine in public beta on May 18 2026 at 9:23 am PT. LangSmith Engine automates agent debugging by detecting production failures such as explicit errors, online evaluator failures, trace anomalies, negative user feedback and unusual behaviors then diagnosing root causes against the live codebase and drafting a pull request plus custom evaluator with human approval at the end. It builds on existing LangSmith tracing and evaluation infrastructure and works optionally with connected repos. Enterprises including those using Claude Managed Agents from Anthropic and Frontier from OpenAI prefer neutral third-party layers like LangSmith Engine for multi-model setups to maintain unified audit trails and avoid vendor lock-in as noted by Leigh Coney of Workwise Solutions and Jessica Arredondo Murphy of True Fit.
