Zed introduced ChatGPT subscription integration on May 16, 2026 for direct OpenAI model and Codex access without API billing. Anthropic's Claude Code Agent SDK credits bill separately starting June 15 while GitHub Copilot moves to usage-based billing on June 1. xAI supports Grok subscriptions with the Hermes agent as another alternative. The update enables Zed users to leverage consumer subscription compute power amid broader industry pricing changes.
