HubSpot reached 94% employee AI usage and 100% engineer adoption without mandates through phased pilots, hackathons, and measurable outcome tracking since 2023. Chief Product and Technology Officer Duncan Lennox reported a 73% increase in lines of code updated by engineers using AI tools from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google. The company invested over $900 million in R&D last year, or 20% of revenue, while continuing to hire engineers at a slower total headcount pace than pre-AI years. Shares fell 20% after Q1 earnings despite 23% revenue growth to $881 million.
