Akamai Technologies Announces Intent to Acquire LayerX for $205 Million

Akamai Technologies announced on May 14, 2026, its intent to acquire LayerX Security, a provider of browser-based AI usage control and secure enterprise browser technology, for approximately $205 million in cash. The deal extends Akamai's Zero Trust security portfolio into the browser environment where enterprise tasks and generative AI applications occur. LayerX solutions will integrate with Akamai Connected Cloud to address AI usage control for security leaders. Akamai expects the transaction to close in the third quarter of 2026 subject to customary conditions.
