Apple acquired Seattle-based AI startup WhyLabs according to European Commission filings under the Digital Markets Act. WhyLabs announced discontinuation of operations on its website after the 2025 acquisition. The transaction strengthened Apple’s capabilities in AI monitoring and model reliability. Alessya Visnjic, WhyLabs co-founder and CEO, joined Apple as an engineering leader. WhyLabs raised $14M total prior to the deal from investors including AI Fund and Madrona Venture Group.
