Demis Hassabis Invests in Anthropic as Google DeepMind Ties Deepen

Demis Hassabis became an early angel investor in Anthropic while serving as Google DeepMind CEO. Google plans to invest up to $40 billion in Anthropic as part of the relationship, with Anthropic committing to spend $200 billion on Google cloud services over the next five years. Hassabis has also invested in AI startups launched by colleagues including Inflection AI founded by DeepMind cofounder Mustafa Suleyman. The 2014 Google acquisition of DeepMind was for a reported ~$400 million.
