GM Shifts Chevrolet Groove Assembly to Mexico from China at Ramos Arizpe Plant

General Motors Mexico announced on May 20, 2026, plans to assemble the Chevrolet Groove starting in the first half of 2027 at the Ramos Arizpe plant, followed later by the Aveo. The move replaces imports from the SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture in China amid new trade tariffs. Ramos Arizpe already produces EVs including the Cadillac Optiq and Chevy Equinox EV. The project aims for 80,000 vehicles annually by 2030 exclusively for the Mexican market. The Groove and Aveo share the same platform developed for Chevrolet.
