Palo Alto Networks announced intent to acquire Portkey on April 30, 2026. Portkey serves as centralized control plane for autonomous AI agents and already processes trillions of tokens per month with low latency for agent-to-agent communication. The acquisition integrates Portkey as AI Gateway for Prisma AIRS to monitor, route and secure every AI transaction across enterprises. Lee Klarich, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Palo Alto Networks, stated organizations will gain visibility into agentic traffic and control against agentic threats. Rohit Agarwal, CEO and Co-Founder of Portkey, noted the move establishes the AI Gateway as foundational layer of the secure AI enterprise with expected close in Palo Alto Networks fourth quarter of fiscal 2026.
