Databricks Launches Unity Catalog MCP Governance and Service Policies

Databricks launched MCP governance capabilities in Unity Catalog on May 19, 2026. Service policies defined as SQL functions enable allow/deny decisions based on actor and context for external tools. Unity AI Gateway enforces policies in real time with full payload logging to a Delta table capturing tool name, arguments, results, user, and outcomes. The gated beta rollout targets prevention of rogue AI agent actions.
