Pinecone introduced Pinecone Nexus, a knowledge engine for AI agents, on May 6, 2026. Nexus precompiles source data into typed, cited, task-specific artifacts that agents query instead of raw chunks from the vector database. The company also released KnowQL, a declarative query language with six primitives including intent, filter, provenance, output shape, confidence, and latency budget. Nexus lifts task completion rates above 90 percent and cuts token spend by 90 percent compared to prior retrieve-read-retrieve loops that finished only 50 to 60 percent of tasks. Pinecone previously promoted RAG workflows to 800,000 developers and 9,000 paying customers over the past four years.
