PayPal Launches Services in Sri Lanka via Sampath Bank, Bank of Ceylon and Commercial Bank

PayPal launched services in Sri Lanka on May 15, 2026 through partner banks Sampath Bank, Bank of Ceylon and Commercial Bank of Ceylon. The rollout enables Sri Lankan freelancers, entrepreneurs and SMEs to create accounts, receive international payments and transfer funds to local or US dollar accounts. Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya attended the launch event at Galle Face Hotel and highlighted alignment with the government's digital economy vision. Additional banks are expected to join in coming months.
