Akamai Stock Surges After $1.8 Billion Anthropic AI Infrastructure Deal

Akamai Technologies announced a $1.8 billion deal to supply computer servers to Anthropic. CEO Tom Leighton described the contract as the largest customer deal in Akamai history during a May 7 analyst call. Akamai acquired Linode in 2022 for $900 million and Guardicore in 2021 for $600 million. Akamai stock traded at $160 on May 13, a level last seen in March 2000.
