Lambda announced leadership changes effective May 2026, naming global infrastructure operator Michel Combes as CEO and shifting co-founder Stephen Balaban to full-time CTO role focused on technology strategy and product vision. Twin brother Michael Balaban moves to Chief Product Officer, while former AT&T CEO John Donovan joins as Chairman of the Board. The overhaul supports Lambda's expansion toward gigawatt-scale AI infrastructure and superintelligence-era operations. Stephen Balaban has trained neural networks since 2012 and published research in NeurIPS and SPIE. Michel Combes brings experience scaling large infrastructure operations from prior roles at Sprint and other global telecoms.
