Akamai Technologies Announces Intent to Acquire LayerX for $205 Million

Akamai Technologies announced plans to acquire LayerX for about US$205 million. The acquisition targets browser-security firm LayerX to advance Akamai's workforce security strategy with AI usage control. Akamai also secured a seven-year, US$1.80 billion AI infrastructure contract with Anthropic and reported first-quarter 2026 results. Akamai Technologies filed a US$2.54 billion ESOP-related shelf registration.
