OpenAI Launches Deployment Company with $4 Billion Backing and Tomoro Acquisition

OpenAI formed the OpenAI Deployment Company as a majority-owned subsidiary. The new unit received backing from more than $4 billion provided by 19 investment firms including TPG, SoftBank, Goldman Sachs, Bain Capital, and McKinsey. OpenAI agreed to acquire Tomoro, an Edinburgh-based firm with 150 Forward Deployed Engineers who have worked with clients such as Tesco, Virgin Atlantic, Supercell, and the NBA. The move shifts focus toward enterprise deployment services.
