Supabase Announces Change to Data API Defaults for New Public Tables Starting May 30
Share the canonical public link.
Supabase announced on May 17, 2026 that new tables in the public schema will no longer be automatically exposed to the Data API in new projects starting May 30th. Tables will instead require explicit grants to each role through the dashboard or SQL. The change supports declarative code practices and provides per-role control for anon and authenticated users. Explicit Postgres grants become reviewable, diffable, and greppable in migrations. Supabase previously allowed automatic exposure as the default behavior.
