Sen. Bill Cassidy lost the Louisiana Republican primary on May 17, 2026. Cassidy voted to convict Donald Trump in the 2021 Senate impeachment trial as one of seven Republicans. Cassidy stated he voted to uphold the constitution and that it may have cost him his seat but who cares. Cassidy stated he feels great about the vote and has no regrets.
