African Rainbow Energy Expands Control in SOLA Group With 83% Stake

African Rainbow Energy expanded its shareholding in SOLA Group from 41% to 83% on May 13, 2026. The transaction gives majority control over SOLA's clean energy assets in South Africa. SOLA Group is South Africa's largest corporate-serving Independent Power Producer. Patrice Motsepe chairs African Rainbow Energy which now becomes one of the largest independently owned energy businesses in the country. The deal strengthens ARE's position amid South Africa's growing private electricity market.
