CrowdStrike released the 2026 Financial Services Threat Landscape Report on May 14, 2026. The report covers cyber activity from April 1, 2025 through March 31, 2026 and identifies financial services as the fourth most-targeted sector globally with 12% of observed activity. Hands-on-keyboard intrusions against financial institutions rose 43% globally and 48% in North America over the past two years. DPRK-nexus adversaries stole $2.02 billion in digital assets in 2025, a 51% increase from 2024, with PRESSURE CHOLLIMA responsible for $1.46 billion. China-nexus groups including HOLLOW PANDA, VAULT PANDA, GENESIS PANDA and MURKY PANDA conducted intelligence collection on financial institutions in South and Southeast Asia.
