Adyen Releases 2026 Fraud Report on Identity Crisis

Adyen published its 2026 fraud report covering 2025 data on May 20, 2026. The report states first-party fraud accounts for 44.3 percent and fake accounts for 42.2 percent of cases, with static controls blocking approximately 10 percent of legitimate customers. Fraud now operates via automated playbooks and AI adaptations including deepfakes, while 70 percent of businesses expect fraud limits to constrain growth. Over 50 percent reported rising manual reviews and a 50 percent increase in false declines. The report notes 84 percent of identities appear across multiple transactions.
