Global Payments unveiled an AI-powered Genius handheld POS solution on May 15, 2026. The device features AI-powered voice ordering that works in high-noise environments, real-time upsell prompts, and natural language commands for updating pricing and menus. David Rumph, president of SMB for Global Payments, said the handheld is purpose-built with advanced hardware and intelligent software to power AI-driven commerce for restaurants. The company also introduced new kiosk solutions sharing the same payments and design DNA as countertop and handheld devices. Global Payments launched a national advertising campaign featuring chef and restaurateur Roy Choi to promote the Genius handheld across television, social media, radio, and billboards.
