Animation Supplies announced the launch of Chroma Clay, a new UK-made plasticine formulated specifically for stop-motion animation, on May 15, 2026. Developed in response to the closure of the Newplast factory, which left animators and studios scrambling for alternatives, Chroma Clay is now proudly made in the UK and designed to meet the exacting demands of professional animators. Animation Supplies founder Andy Simmons said the company decided to create its own product after testing other materials on the market and finding they did not reach industry standards set by Newplast’s goods. Chroma Clay works well with both wire and professional ball-and-socket armatures. Its wax-based formula provides great adhesion to your armature, minimising slipping or sliding during the frame-by-frame animation process.
