Sri Lanka Launches PayPal Services While Pakistan Awaits Direct Access

PayPal launched cross-border services in Sri Lanka on May 15 2026 with integration through domestic banks including Sampath Bank. Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya and PayPal Senior Vice President Nadia Sayed attended the event alongside Central Bank Governor Nandalal Weerasinghe. The rollout supports freelancers and exporters in accessing global clients and foreign currency inflows. Additional banks will join in coming months.
