Adyen and Starling Bank Launch Tap to Pay for UK SMEs

Adyen partnered with Starling Bank on May 19, 2026 to launch tap to pay for Starling's UK SME customers. The feature allows contactless card payments on eligible smartphones without additional hardware or leaving the app, with next-day fund settlement and full in-app lifecycle including refunds. Starling plans to add card payment links for its free in-app invoicing tool later in 2026. Nicole Olbe, Adyen UK managing director, stated the technology removes traditional barriers by turning smartphones into secure terminals. Sami Kade, Starling director of customer solutions, said the tool helps small businesses get paid more quickly while focusing on growth.
