xAI Launches Grok Build Coding Agent in Early Beta for SuperGrok Heavy Subscribers

xAI launched Grok Build, its first AI coding agent and CLI tool, on May 15, 2026. The early beta targets professional software engineers for complex coding tasks and includes a plan mode for reviewing and approving changes before execution. Grok Build competes with Anthropic’s Claude Code and OpenAI offerings while requiring a SuperGrok Heavy subscription at $300 per month. xAI signed a partnership with Cursor to rebuild coding capabilities on the Colossus supercomputer. Elon Musk stated in March 2026 that xAI is being rebuilt from the foundations up after co-founder departures.
