Akamai Announces Deal to Acquire LayerX for Roughly $205 Million

Akamai Technologies announced on May 14, 2026, its plan to acquire browser security firm LayerX for $205 million to bolster zero trust controls for AI use in browsers. The acquisition targets enterprise challenges with AI tools inside organizations and integrates LayerX technology into Akamai's existing security offerings. LayerX co-founders Or Eshed and David Vaisbrud will join the combined entity. Akamai expects closing in the third quarter of 2026.
