GitHub announced the Copilot app in technical preview on May 14 2026. The standalone desktop application supports agentic workflows starting from GitHub issues pull requests or prompts on macOS Windows and Linux. Copilot Business and Enterprise subscribers access the preview immediately while Pro and Pro+ users join a waitlist. The app enables pause resume task isolation automated workflows review validation via terminal or browser and Agent Merge for comments and checks. GitHub Copilot CLI reached general availability in February 2026 and the app video references a potential broader rollout on June 2 2026.
