Alon Haimovich will leave his position as head of Microsoft’s Israeli subsidiary after an inquiry into dealings with the Israeli military concluded recently. The inquiry, launched in 2025 following the August 6, 2025 Guardian report, found that IDF Unit 8200 violated terms of service when using Azure to store intercepted calls from Gaza and the West Bank in a segregated area. Microsoft terminated Unit 8200’s Azure and AI access on September 25, 2025. Other managers departed alongside Haimovich, whose exit was announced the prior week.
