More than 50 researchers and engineers departed SpaceXAI since the February 2026 SpaceX acquisition of xAI. Key exits include leaders from coding, world models, and Grok voice teams, with the pre-training team reduced to a handful after Juntang Zhuang left. At least 11 staff joined Meta and seven joined Mira Murati’s Thinking Machines Lab. SpaceX installed new leadership and renamed the entity SpaceXAI earlier in May 2026.
