Michigan State University leadership hosted more than 100 stakeholders on May 14, 2026 for the ribbon-cutting of the newly renovated MSU Plant Science Research Greenhouse Complex. The $35 million project received $12 million from MSU and drew from $53 million allocated by the Michigan legislature in July 2022, renovating about 60% of the 90,000-square-foot facility while leaving 40% untouched at completion in 2026. Over 400 people including nearly 70 researchers and hundreds of students use the complex for research and learning on crops such as wheat, beans, and blueberries. MSU President Kevin M. Guskiewicz and CANR Dean Matthew Daum attended the event that addresses pre-1980 infrastructure issues with state-of-the-art environmental controls and LED lighting.
