Global Payments Unveils AI-First Genius Handheld POS Device

Global Payments Inc. unveiled an AI-first Genius handheld POS device on May 13, 2026. The ultra-thin device supports AI-powered voice ordering, real-time upsell prompts, natural language commands for pricing and menus, and seamless communication with intelligent agents for restaurants and frontline commerce. It will be previewed at the National Restaurant Association Show in Chicago from May 16 to 19, 2026, marking the one-year anniversary of the original Genius launch. Global Payments also announced an exclusive U.S. POS agreement with CKE Restaurants placing the device in more than 2,400 quick service locations. David Rumph, president of SMB for Global Payments, stated the handheld pairs mobile technology with AI-driven workflows to help servers spend less time on transactions.
