Vercel Launches Zero Programming Language for AI Agents

Vercel Labs released Zero, an experimental programming language for AI agents on May 20, 2026. The language features structured JSON diagnostics, explicit effects, and native binary compilation. CTO Malte Ubl demonstrated a Bun rewrite using Zero that achieved a 98.7% test pass rate in roughly 22 hours with improved compile times. The GitHub repository reached approximately 1,500 stars shortly after launch with v0.1.1 as the latest release as of mid-May 2026.
