Google DeepMind Takes Minority Stake in Fenris Creations for EVE Online AI Testing

Google DeepMind entered a research partnership with Fenris Creations on May 6, 2026 and took a minority stake in the company. The collaboration tests AI systems for long-horizon planning, memory and continual learning using an offline version of EVE Online on a local server. Fenris Creations rebranded from CCP Games after a $120 million buyout from Pearl Abyss. Google DeepMind Director Alexandre Moufarek and Fenris CEO Hilmar Veigar Pétursson highlighted EVE as a unique sandbox for general-purpose AI.
