HOPE Gardens Opens New Permanent Community Greenhouse

HOPE Gardens opened a new permanent greenhouse on approximately six acres behind West Godwin Elementary School in Godwin Heights on May 8, 2026. The site features over 10,000 heirloom plants started by students from Godfrey-Lee, Godwin Heights public schools, and South Elementary in Grandville, with partnerships including TEAM 21 after-school program and Peppercorn Apartments. HOPE Gardens holds a 10-year lease on the property from Land & Co. for $1 a year to support student programming and community activities. Godfrey-Lee Superintendent Arnetta Thompson noted the ongoing partner participation in supporting the community.
