Akamai Acquires Israeli AI Browser Security Startup LayerX for $205 Million

Akamai Technologies agreed on May 14, 2026, to acquire Israeli cybersecurity startup LayerX Security for approximately $205 million in cash. LayerX develops browser-based AI usage control and secure enterprise browser technology to monitor generative AI applications and SaaS AI solutions. The acquisition advances Akamai's workforce security strategy within its Zero Trust portfolio and Akamai Connected Cloud platform. Akamai plans to close the deal in the third quarter of 2026.
